Heresy Era Terminators Revamped
I finally got round to re-basing and updating these guys. The re-basing went quite quickly but the addition of the decals was definitely the time consuming bit. Looking much nicer now though I think!

1st Tactical Squad Revamped
Progress has been somewhat slow of late but in the small amount of time I've had I finally got the revamp done on the original tactical squad. I made a second transfer sheet on a clear background and they worked much better than the white background. Anyway here are a couple of pictures.

DIY Forgeworld MkIc Deimos Rhino
A while ago when Forgeworld release their Heresy Era Rhino. As a model I really like it as a way to add some extra flavour to a pre-heresy army. However at £33 quid I didn't really fancy buying any, especially seeing as I already had the normal Rhino models and Forgeworld no longer seem to offer these models as conversion kits. Well I had a bit of spare time the other day but not enough to get on with painting so I had a go a knocking up a version of my own.

More updating old models
Continuing with my decision to update the original units of this project to bring them in line with my more recent stuff I re-based the standard bearer and apothecary and updated the colour scheme.

Dreadnought Re-painted
I haven't had a huge amount of time for modelling and painting recently so I decided to do something simple which I've been meaning to do for a while. Since I started my Death Guard the style has changed slightly leaving the dreadnought looking a bit out of place so I thought I'd give it a bit of a revamp.

New WIP: Forgeworld MkIIB Land Raider
I bought this model a good few years ago now and had originally intended to use it for my Crimson Fists. Having abandoned that particular chapter long ago I decided it would be perfect for my pre-heresy Death Guard army. Although I'm not entirely looking forward to painting this monster tank in white its going to be fun putting it together and trying to get all the iconography on it that I want. This picture is the model as it stands so far. The symbol on the front was made using a press mold (which hopefully I'll get round to doing a separate post on at some point!) with the idea being that I can make lots of the same symbol. The next big job is getting the side sponsons on but in the mean time I also need to paint the inside black as I totally forgot about it whilst putting the chassis together.

Death Guard Colour Scheme
So after finishing my second tactical squad and noticing just how different they are to my first squad I though it was about time I tried to formalise my colour scheme a bit more. Hopefully now that I've found a scheme I like I can then stick to it better and make sure all the units in my army belong to the same force.

2nd Tactical Squad Finially Finished
So here's a quick shot of the second tactical squad which I've finally managed to finish. Unfortunately things have been so busy with work that they've actually been finished for a week or so but I hadn't had the chance to even get a photo of them. Hopefully soon I'll get chance to put some better shots up here. As you can see they're a bit different to my older ones so I'll need to go back to the original tactical squad and see what I can do to make the whole force look more cohesive. I'm much happier with this 2nd squad, it's much closer to how I imagine they should look in battle with the additional weathering, rather than the showroom pristine look I used to paint!
until next time (which I hope won't be too long!),

WISP: Work In Slow Progress - Second Death Guard Tactical Squad
Its been a while since I completed the test model for the second tactical squad and unfortunately progress has somewhat slowed since then. I have managed to get a few minutes here and there but all in all it seems this squad is going to take a while, especially seeing as its shaping up to be a pretty busy summer. So here's a quick picture of the squad so far. They've been undercoated white and the airbrushed skull white and then blacklined with Soft body black. I've started blocking out the non white area's with adeptus battlegrey, (mainly because I don't really like the semi gloss finish you sometimes get with chaos black) ready for their respective colours but as you can see this is as far as I've got.
Still, slowly getting there...

Improvements to be made
After taking a few photos of the original tactical squad a had to admit that although I like the models I realised there were some improvements to be made. After a bit of head scratching I decided to take a side by side photo with one of my post heresy Death Guard Plague Marines (I may put up some more photo's of these too in future). The model I chose was one that I had re-based a while back when experimenting with urban style bases.

1st Terrain Piece Finished
I finished my first terrain piece the other day but its taken me until now to take any pictures of it. I decided to go for a simple quick paint job of a base coat of Adeptus Battlegrey followed by a wash of Badab Black and then a drybrush first with Codex Grey and then finally Fortress Grey. (Sorry i don't know what the new Citadel Paint equivalents are!). Here are a few quick pics with my Pre Heresy Death Guard so far.

Death Guard Pre-Heresy Terminators
After completing the first tactical squad I didn't feel the army's pre heresy theme was showing very strongly so I couldn't wait to get started on a squad of terminators with their Roman style shoulder guards. I toyed about with trying to bend some pasticard without much success.

Nathaniel Garro & Command Squad
...well, by Command Squad what I really mean is just the standard bearer and the apothecary. Seeing as the death guard are mostly white I thought I'd go with the total opposite for the apothecary. The head is just one of the Chaos Space marine heads but it seemed to suit the model quite well.
The Start of the Pre-Heresy Death Guard
My local GW was planning to run a 30K Campain and after reading Flight of the Eistenstein I knew it would have to be Death Guard. I didn't really set out with much of a plan, I just thought I have a go at the first squad and see where it went from there. I was a bit apprehensive about painting a whole army a colour which is supposed to be slightly off white so thought I'd just see how it goes.

The ill fated Crimson Fists
After leaving uni and re-entering the real world I found myself in a new town with no friends and plenty of spare time on my hands. Before long I'd decided to go along to the local games workshop and soon remembered how much I'd enjoyed the hobby a few years back. After buying the new codex space marines and remembering some old artwork I decided it was to be the Crimson Fists.
